100WC

Here is my 100WC The prompt was 'as the smoke cleared'. Hope you enjoy.

The world had a remarkable bright and happy colour. And we all love yellow don't we? However the colour yellow is  generally  discovered to be a happy and bright colour. But something happened to the colour yellow! It got stolen by a color snatching thief but they don't know how if he is tall, short, small or fat - they just don't know!
The daisies and Brazil's flag had no colour. But it was weird the world felt sad and dark. But no one found out who did it but after a while they forgot about the colour yellow but then as the smoke cleared...

A Day in the Port Hills!

This is my haiku after our class hike up into The Port Hills. This was our 3rd Outdoor Challenge for the William Pike Challenge Award.

Friday 24 June 2016

On Monday the Rimu Year 7/8s were on their second William Pike Outdoor Challenge to Cattlestop Crag. Thanks to the adults I was with - Miss Todd, all the way to the top of summit road!

At the start when we first got there it was very chilly. When we were walking along the narrow pathway I thought the worst; that I was going to fall off! It looked really foggy - we could see the whole of Christchurch. When I saw Cattlestop Crag I wanted to go first because I had never tried it before and I just wanted to get straight into it. I wanted to do all the climbs by the end of the day.

Today our values we were focusing on was Pride and Resilience. Our instructors were Steven and Josh. They talked about how we shouldn’t think we can’t do this; think we can do it and then we will feel proud of ourselves for having a go, even if we didn’t get to the top. We still got off the ground.

As I started my hands were super cold I couldn't do it the first time but I came later and I got it and josh helped me on the last one and I reached the top and I got all of it done by the end of the day. It was so fun I wish I could do it again

Franklin

Once upon a time a old man was walking through the mall with his friend,Franklin when they decided to sit on a bench. After a while a magic man walked up to them to do some magic on him and his friend. franklin didn’t believe the magic so he said turn him into a statue. The magic man said abracadabra and then straight away he was made of stone. I said to him Franklin, Franklin, Franklin. He didn’t talk back so I went and got McDonalds. When I finished I tried to shake him but he wouldn’t talk.

My 100 word challenge for this week!

This week the prompt for our 100WC was..."as the flame flickered and went out..." For this challenge I was thinking really carefully about which words were needed and which weren't. Enjoy!

One day I went exploring in a New Zealand cave in search of the native bats that live there. I brought a torch (Wooden torch) and a few matches with me so if my torch went out I had a last minute light if need be. Now I am 47 feet underground and it is starting to get cold. This is when I thought of my last minute resort. It was fire so I decided to use it. I had to use all my matches to light it so if it went out. I had it going for one minute then it happened. The flame flickered and then went out...

100 Word Challenge!

This week we got to make a story involving 100 words. This week my story was titled stairway to the sky. The 100 Word challenge is a weekly writing competition that we enter. Every week it has a new prompt that we do.

way to the sky. That annoying boy is my little brother John Cena he is a bit dale in the head but anyway this is about me.

It is a big dream for me to get to the stairway to the sky. It’s my birthday today and I am 16 years old and I am getting a car for my birthday. I am planing on going to the church of all churches so I can go to the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY.

TRUE OR FALSE?

This week we had to write our school holiday story and it might be true or false. What do you think?

I have been on a German road. I walked to the peak of a mountain and in the process I cut my knee on a big  sharp rock . I did not bring any plasters so it was bleeding really badly.  When I got home I got a plaster but by then it had stopped bleeding but I needed to get 7 stitches. It because it hurt so bad. I was safe but only inches away from wasps, if you stopped all of the mountain would be humming. The holidays were fun.  And I be highly recommend going there if you like wasps. But take a  longer walk it will be fun. Thank you.

My Mihi!

In the first two weeks of school, Rimu class learnt how to create and say our mihi in Māori. This is our introduction to our class and community. We also created a ‘visual mihimihi’ to match our mihis. It had three  parts to it:

  1. A self  portrait or photo
  2. place of significance
  3. Symbols or pictures that represent our culture

Those of us who spoke clearly, confidently with excellent pronunciation with  great visuals and layout scored well on our rubric.
