My speech

My class from weeks 3-7 was learning how to write and speak  persuasively to our audience. I chose the topic ‘’vegetarians live longer’’because my Nan is very fit and she's a vegetarian. I was working on my looking up and and expression my idea clearly. I also was working on keeping it over 2.30 mins and under 3.00 mins. Next time I would practice more to change and get it get under three minutes.
Here it is hope you enjoy. :)

A Day in the Port Hills!

This is my haiku after our class hike up into The Port Hills. This was our 3rd Outdoor Challenge for the William Pike Challenge Award.

Friday, 24 June 2016

On Monday the Rimu Year 7/8s were on their second William Pike Outdoor Challenge to Cattlestop Crag. Thanks to the adults I was with - Miss Todd, all the way to the top of summit road!

At the start when we first got there it was very chilly. When we were walking along the narrow pathway I thought the worst; that I was going to fall off! It looked really foggy - we could see the whole of Christchurch. When I saw Cattlestop Crag I wanted to go first because I had never tried it before and I just wanted to get straight into it. I wanted to do all the climbs by the end of the day.

Today our values we were focusing on was Pride and Resilience. Our instructors were Steven and Josh. They talked about how we shouldn’t think we can’t do this; think we can do it and then we will feel proud of ourselves for having a go, even if we didn’t get to the top. We still got off the ground.

As I started my hands were super cold I couldn't do it the first time but I came later and I got it and josh helped me on the last one and I reached the top and I got all of it done by the end of the day. It was so fun I wish I could do it again

Franklin

Once upon a time a old man was walking through the mall with his friend,Franklin when they decided to sit on a bench. After a while a magic man walked up to them to do some magic on him and his friend. franklin didn’t believe the magic so he said turn him into a statue. The magic man said abracadabra and then straight away he was made of stone. I said to him Franklin, Franklin, Franklin. He didn’t talk back so I went and got McDonalds. When I finished I tried to shake him but he wouldn’t talk.
